Josh Darr is a freelance photographer / visual artist based in Chicago. His earliest memories as a child was creating images with crayons, not much has changed over the years aside from the variety of methods he uses in image making today. Always wanting to tell a story in his work and capturing the essence of his subject’s identity he is constantly challenging himself to push his boundaries in all of his work.

Josh’s areas of expertise include live performance (music,theater and dance) portraits, documentary and studio photography (product,food) Music plays a strong role in his inspirations as an artist not only figuratively but literally. Finding himself drawn back into the music industry coming out of the pandemic, Josh has taken a refreshed approach to how he captures each experience. His goal is to one day make a passion project into a reality in creating a non profit art center for young artists struggling with mental health. Utilizing music as a central theme and universal language and sharing his own experiences of being inspired and hoping to inspire. 

Josh has worked with several clients and been a part of various projects, most notably FTD Flowers, Bloom Dance Competition, Jam Productions, Under the Radar, Live for Live Music, Variance Magazine, Paste Magazine, FLOOD Magazine, Daytrotter, Stereogum, Brooklyn Vegan, Fat Possum Records, Thalia Hall, Metro Chicago, Yoga Loft Studios, Bravo Performing Arts, Oak Park Festival Theater.
